Since 1978 the East Texas Crisis Center has been dedicated to providing safety, shelter, and education for victims of family violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes.  Each year approximately 400 women and children are housed at the East Texas Crisis Center.   The Center provides non-residential services to an additional 1,400 women and children.  Non-residential services include legal advocacy, crisis counseling, accompaniment to law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and support groups.

“East Texas Crisis Center’s first priority is to provide safe housing, risk assessment, safety planning, and legal advocacy to help women obtain a Family Protective Order,” said Lana Peacock, Executive Director of East Texas Crisis Center.  “Our second priority is to provide information, educational and emotional support so that women can make positive changes in their lives.  Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s support will ensure the continuity of this vital program designed to help break the cycle of abuse.”
