Family Promise of Greater Indianapolis recently received a $1,000.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1994, the organization was inspired by community leaders, including Dr. Dean Lindsey, who convened local congregations to implement the rotating shelter model pioneered by Karen Olson. On October 3, 1994, they welcomed their first family at Carmel UMC—using rollaway beds in church spaces to keep families together while they rebuilt their lives. As part of its mission, Family Promise partners with congregations and community organizations to respond to the crisis faced by homeless families with children and help eliminate homelessness in Greater Indianapolis. Their holistic vision is for a community where homelessness is rare, brief, and recoverable.
