Food Bank of Central Louisiana receives $175 donation from WCF.

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Food Bank of Central Louisiana welcomes a $175 gift from Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

The Food Bank of Central Louisiana’s mission is to alleviate hunger in Central Louisiana. They distribute food and grocery products to needy families through a network of approved non-profit agencies in 11 parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Sabine, Vernon and Winn.

The Food Bank distributes more than 5.7 million pounds of food to Central Louisiana each year and offers numerous feeding programs. Some of the Food Bank’s staple services include, a kids BackPack program that is designed to meet the need of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekend and school vacations. Another program offered by Food Bank of Central Louisiana is the Kids Café which is designed to have a hand in fashioning America’s future by providing nourishment to needs children in a safe, accessible environment. Adopt-A-Senior is a program intended to assist seniors in stretching their budgets, as approximately 50 pounds of food per month is given to each sponsored individual.

“It is with the generous support of our individual and corporate donors that the Food Bank of Central Louisiana is able to serve more than 22,400 people every month in our community,” said Jayne Wright-Velez, Executive Director of Food Bank of Central Louisiana.

For every dollar donated, the Food Bank of Central Louisiana can provide five meals to families in need. The Food Bank annually distributes more than five million pounds of food to children, families and senior citizens in need of emergency food assistance.
