Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Food Bank of Western New York, founded in 1979 and based in Buffalo, New York, serves communities throughout Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. Its mission is to obtain nutritious food and resources from public and private sources and efficiently distribute them to those in need through a network of partner agencies, working to alleviate hunger across the region. As part of a broader hunger‑relief system, the organization acts as a central hub connecting food donations with local pantries, shelters, and community programs.

Through partnerships with hundreds of affiliated agencies, the Food Bank distributes millions of pounds of food each year to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Its programs include mobile food distribution, nutrition education initiatives, and specialized efforts such as children’s meal programs, senior meal delivery, and community outreach to raise awareness about hunger. In addition to food distribution, the organization collaborates with schools, nonprofits, and government agencies to provide resources, promote healthy eating, and support long‑term solutions aimed at reducing hunger in Western New York.
