Greenville IHN recently received a $1,500.00 donation form The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.
Greenville Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (GAIHN), located in Greenville, South Carolina, serves families experiencing homelessness throughout the local community. Its mission is to partner with local congregations to provide emergency shelter, meals, and compassionate support to families with children while helping them achieve long‑term self‑sufficiency. As part of the broader Family Promise model, the organization focuses on keeping families together during times of crisis and supporting them through a collaborative, community‑based approach.Through a network of congregations and volunteers, GAIHN operates an emergency shelter program in which host churches provide safe overnight lodging and meals on a rotating basis for approximately 10 to 12 weeks. Families then transition into short‑term or longer‑term housing programs, where they receive intensive case management, life‑skills training, and ongoing counseling to help them secure employment and stable housing. The organization also provides housing and employment assistance, guiding families as they work toward independence and long‑term stability. A key feature of Greenville’s IHN program is its commitment to preserving family unity, including supporting single fathers and mothers with older children—groups often separated in traditional shelters. By combining emergency shelter, transitional housing, and individualized support, GAIHN helps families overcome homelessness and build sustainable, independent futures.
