MONTGOMERY, Alabama (January, 2010) – Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently contributed $650 to Montgomery Area Food Bank in Alabama.

Since 1986, The Montgomery Area Food Bank has been fighting hunger and poverty in South Central Alabama by distributing food and other donated products to nearly 700 non-profit member agencies serving 24 counties.  The Food Bank system distributes to people who are unable to provide adequate food for themselves and their families.  “With so much of our future uncertain at this time, it is good to know that organizations such as Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank can partner with members of Feeding America, the nation's network of food banks, and accomplish so much together,” said Ann Eissler, Deputy Director of Montgomery Area Food Bank.  “Your generous donation of $650 will go far and accomplish much, particularly in these stressful economic times. Thank you again for this most generous gift.”

“The need for the services provided by food banks continues to grow as the economic downturn in this country has caused millions of Americans to be at-risk of hunger,” said Kim Marling, Executive Director of Woodforest Charitable Foundation. “Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank are pleased to present this donation to the Montgomery Area Food Bank in support of their mission to acquire and redistribute food to affiliated non-profit feeding agencies.”
