Conroe, TX – Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently donated $10,000 to the Montgomery County Food Bank for continuing support of feeding individuals that are at risk of being food deprived.

The Montgomery County Food Bank was created in 1985 by a concerned group of people who volunteered at the local Crisis Action Hot Line and recognized the need for a formal organization to distribute food to disadvantaged families and those in crisis in Montgomery County, Texas. Last year, nearly 6 million pounds of nutritional food was distributed to those in need or experiencing a crisis.

The Montgomery County Food Bank warehouses and distributes food to 50 member agencies throughout Montgomery County. The agencies are accountable for food received and distributed and they must qualify as a charitable institution in accordance with Texas laws. The Food Bank has a volunteer Board of Directors – one of which is a founding board member.

The mission of the Montgomery County Food Bank is to assist people who are hungry in Montgomery County, Texas. As a private non-profit organization, the Food Bank collects and distributes more than 6 million pounds of food each year to low-income children, adults and seniors living in Montgomery County, Texas. Currently the Food Bank serves an average of 37,000 + individuals each month.

The Montgomery County Food Bank acts as a clearinghouse for edible food items donated and purchased for distribution to charities assisting the poor and victims in crisis. The Montgomery County Food Bank is a 501 (c) (3) Non-Profit Organization, a partner with the Houston Food Bank and a member of the Texas Food Bank Network and a member of Feeding America.
