Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $18,260 to North Texas Food Bank

North Texas Food Bank Receives $18,260 Donation

Dallas, TX – There are more than 187,000 food-insecure children living in the Dallas metropolitan area that do not have access to adequate, nutritious meals on a regular basis.  In response to this issue, Woodforest Charitable Foundation presents North Texas Food Bank with a $18,260 donation to support their Kids Café and Food 4 Kids Programs.

The Kids Café program provides nutritious and free hot meals to children who may not have access to food once they leave school through a variety of after-school programs.  The Kids Café program began at the North Texas Food Bank in 1998 and currently provides meals to 1,500 children every week at over 30 locations throughout Northern Texas.

These same children often face hunger over the weekend when there is no access to meals prepared at school.  The Food 4 Kids program helps to eliminate this problem by providing backpacks full of nonperishable, kid-friendly, nutritious food to chronically hungry children on Friday afternoons to last throughout the weekend.  The program currently serves over 325 schools in 32 schools districts across Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Hunt, Rockwall, and Kaufman counties.

“We are so grateful for Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s recent donation of $18,260 to support the Food Bank’s Kids Café and Food 4 Kids Programs,” said Jan Pruitt, President & CEO of North Texas Food Bank.  “Through this generous donation, the North Texas Food Bank is able to provide over 73,000 meals to children at-risk of hunger in North Texas.”
