Woodforest Charitable Foundation supports children and youth in the local community with a $2,500 contribution to the Tamina Community Center

Tamina Community Clinic Receives $2,500 Donation

SHENANDOAH, TX - Woodforest Charitable Foundation has recently donated $2,500 to the Tamina Community Center, a community focal point, bringing people together in positive ways so they can become a force for change in their community.

The belief of Tamina Community Center is that by providing a safe and fun environment for children and youth it will result in opportunities for them to master basic skills, enjoy a variety of life-enrichment activities.

Established in 1998, Tamina Community Center is located in the historic Tamina community of Montgomery County at 19855 Main Street in Conroe.  The center provides critical resources to meet the growing need for children to have safe and productive activities during the hours outside of the school day. It also provides Community Outreach Programs directed towards assisting families and individuals improve the quality of their lives. In addition, counseling services, needs assessments and assistance are available when appropriate to strengthen family life.

The Center provides children, their parents and the entire community with access to valuable educational resources and other services.  The center provides child care before and after school, meals, tutoring and help with homework. Teens have access to a library and computers to aid with homework and a social time in the game room. Adult computer classes are available Tuesday evenings. Seniors may enjoy Dinners and Outings on Wednesday’s and Wellness Activities on Tuesday’s.

Shirley Grimes, founder and Executive Director of Tamina Community Center, said, “We are extremely grateful for this generous contribution by Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  The funds have helped with our summer program and recreation center as well as provide clothes, shoes, and school supplies for the new school year.  It has also helped with educational trips for the children to enjoy.”
