Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry, founded in 1987 as a 501(c)(3) organization, was created to respond quickly and compassionately to the emergency food needs of Bastrop County residents. With a “no-wait, no red-tape” approach, the pantry serves as the community’s first, and often only, line of defense in moments of crisis, distributing emergency food for up to 45 days and providing monthly fresh produce access. Their core mission is to eliminate food insecurity in Bastrop County by offering emergency assistance, fresh food, backpacks for children, Brown Bag deliveries for seniors, and access to educational workshops and hygiene kits. Clients receive holistic support, including help applying for benefits or job training referrals, through the Jewell Hodges Support Center and intake offices that were added as the organization expanded into a multi-service agency.
