Theodore, Alabama - Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently contributed $850 to Bay Area Food Bank located in Theodore, Alabama..

Food banks have noticed a changing face of hunger, with many more first time clients, some who use to be donors, now needing donations themselves in the face of unemployment. Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s recent contribution of $850 will assist Bay Area Food Bank’s efforts in providing nutritious food for the less fortunate.

Since 1980, Bay Area Food Bank has distributed over 100 million pounds of food to charitable, nonprofit organizations across 24 counties in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. The Bay Area Food Bank obtains and distributes donated and purchased food to soup kitchens, pantries and shelters. The Bay Area Food Bank will serve as the source of food for member organizations faced with the challenge of feeding people who are hungry as a result of personal crisis or disaster.

“Unfortunately, the economic downturn in this country has caused many families to choose between paying the bills and providing the most basic of necessities for their loved ones,” stated Kim Marling, Vice President of Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  "We are pleased to assist the Bay Area Food Bank whose program supports over 700 feeding agencies along the Central Gulf Coast.  Woodforest National Bank employees are dedicated to their fundraising efforts which provide the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others."
