Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
Verona, VA – On a continual basis Woodforest National Bank employees perform a multitude of fundraising events benefitting the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  Both Woodforest National Bank and Woodforest Charitable Foundation are committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which Woodforest serves. This partnership benefits the community and organizations such as Blue Ridge Area Food Bank which recently received a $5,380 donation from the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1981, the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is the largest organization alleviating hunger in Western and Central Virginia. In all, they serve 25 counties and 9 cities on either side of the Blue Ridge through distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester and Verona.

They provide nutritious food to 145,600 different people each year through a far-reaching network of food pantries, soup kitchens, schools, churches and nonprofit groups.

They are members of Feeding America, a national organization supporting more than 200 food banks across the country, and the largest domestic hunger relief agency in the U.S. In 2009, Feeding America named the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank the Member of the Year for our outstanding program standards and efficiency.
