THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Boys & Girls Country of Northwest Houston recently received a $5,000 contribution from Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

"We are grateful for the generous contributions we receive from caring organizations such as Woodforest Charitable Foundation," explained Elaine Petranek, Director of Development for Boys and Girls Country. "We truly appreciate the continued support we've received from the Foundation over the years, and most especially in these financially difficult times as we keep our promise to care for these kids who have no family who can care for them."

Boys and Girls Country is a not-for-profit charitable Christian Home, providing children from families in crisis with love, security, a sense of self worth and opportunities to prepare them for a successful life.

Established in 1971, the Home is located in northwest Houston and has served over 1,200 children. The vision of Boys and Girls Country is that every child has a place to grow up and a sense of being home. Its mission is to change the lives of children from families in crisis by loving and nurturing them in a Christian environment, raising them to become self-sustaining and contributing adults.

Kim Marling, Vice President of Woodforest Charitable Foundation, said, "This organization should be highly commended for the contributions they make in the lives of these children.  They provide a family environment and education where they gain confidence, self worth and responsibility.  They have made a huge impact on the lives of many and we are happy to contribute to such a worthy organization."
