Capital Area Food Bank
Austin, TX – On a continual basis Woodforest National Bank employees perform a multitude of fundraising events benefitting the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  Both Woodforest National Bank and Woodforest Charitable Foundation are committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which Woodforest serves. This partnership benefits the community and organizations such as Capital Area Food Bank, which recently received a $5,400 donation, from the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

One in four Central Texas children is at risk of hunger.  Of the 48,000 people who are helped every week through Capital Area Food Bank programs, 20,000 are children.  During the summer, children who normally receive free or reduced-price lunches at school may go without the meals they need to be healthy and strong.  However, thanks to the generosity of people like you, the Capital Area Food Bank is able to partner with summer programs across Central Texas to provide nutritious summer meals to those who need them most - children like Lorenya.  Your donation is an investment in the year-round fight against hunger.

"If I have to be something when I grow up,” Lorenya said thoughtfully, “I would want to be a reporter or journalist. I like writing. It’s my favorite thing in school.”  Lorenya, a fifth grade student at Ortega Elementary in Austin, is at a critical point on the path to achieving her dreams. “I like that they have healthy food choices here. They never let you leave the line without a fruit on your plate,” she says.  Lorenya receives a free afternoon meal at her school’s Kids Cafe, but during the summer she won’t be receiving school meals.
