The Chester County Food Bank was established in 2009 to address growing hunger in the county, to build a sustainable, community-rooted organization to secure, manage, and distribute food to neighbors in need As the principal hunger‑relief organization in Chester County, it collaborates with over 160 partner agencies, including food cupboards, hot‑meal sites, shelters, schools, and senior centers, to distribute more than 4.6 million pounds of nutritious food annually. Their mission is to mobilize and educate the community to ensure access to real, healthy food, while their vision is a food‑secure Chester County where every household has access to the food that promotes health and well‑being. Beyond distribution, their holistic approach includes nutrition education programs such as Eat Fresh bilingual cooking classes, Fresh2You mobile markets, raised-bed gardening initiatives, workforce training via FRESHstart Kitchen™, and free meals for homebound seniors, all aimed at addressing the root causes of food insecurity and building long-term stability across the community.
