Community Food Bank of Central Alabama recently received a $5,430.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1982 by a dedicated group of volunteers with support from the United Way of Central Alabama and the Greater Birmingham Foundation, the Food Bank began by providing emergency food services to neighborhoods in Jefferson, Shelby, and Walker counties. Its mission is to feed people in need today and foster collaborative solutions to end hunger tomorrow. Operating now across 12 central Alabama counties, it partners with over 230–300 nonprofit agencies—including pantries, shelters, and children’s programs—to distribute millions of meals annually. Beyond distribution, the Food Bank runs mobile pantries and direct meal programs targeting seniors, children during school breaks, and patients with chronic illnesses, and even incubates social enterprises to reduce waste and expand healthy food access in the community.
