Family Crisis Center of the Rio Grande recently received a $580.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Family Crisis Centers was founded in 1982 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized an urgent need for domestic violence and abuse support in their community, initially operating under the name Domestic Violence Aid Center. Their mission is to empower survivors to live lives free from violence, providing comprehensive services including domestic and sexual violence advocacy, emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, housing stabilization, and community education. With a campus that has grown to include a 4,000 sq ft Crisis Resource Center and multiple emergency shelters, the organization serves survivors across a wide region. They also operate supportive services such as permanent supportive housing, youth outreach, a statewide crisis hotline, and legal advocacy, all delivered free of charge and staffed by trained advocates. Over the years, Family Crisis Centers has expanded from serving just a few local counties to covering 17 counties in northwest Iowa, with a vision focused on safety, healing, and systemic change.
