Central Texas Food Bank recently received a $5,805.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1981 by concerned Austin leaders through the United Urban Council, the Food Bank was officially incorporated in 1982 as the Capital Area Food Bank, becoming the second food bank in Texas and a founding affiliate of America’s Second Harvest. Originally focused on recovering surplus food for immediate hunger relief, the organization has expanded dramatically over four decades, distributing over 54 million meals across its 21-county service area last year alone. Its mission is clear: to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger. This is carried out through partnerships with nearly 250 nonprofit agencies, public-facing programs including food pantries, mobile distributions, healthy nutrition education, and federal benefit enrollment support. The organization also leverages innovative tools, such as its Food Access Convening Tool, to strategically target food insecurity and inform service delivery that addresses root causes of hunger, equity, and well-being.
