Family Promise of Southwestern Pennsylvania, established in 1995, operates in the Pittsburgh area, serving families experiencing homelessness throughout the surrounding communities. Its mission is to empower families facing housing insecurity to build a sustainable foundation for independent living by connecting them with a network of local congregations, professional staff, and community resources. Through a collaborative, faith‑based approach, the organization focuses on keeping families together while providing the support needed to transition back into stable housing. Through partnerships with local congregations and volunteers, the organization offers a comprehensive emergency shelter program that provides temporary housing, meals, and hospitality in a supportive environment. Families receive intensive, individualized case management, including assistance with employment searches, budgeting, transportation, and housing placement. The program also provides essential items such as clothing, furniture, and household goods, helping families rebuild stability as they work toward independence. In addition to immediate shelter services, Family Promise of Southwestern Pennsylvania offers ongoing support and community‑based resources to help families secure permanent housing and avoid returning to homelessness.
