Food Bank of Northern Indiana
South Bend, IN – On a continual basis Woodforest National Bank employees perform a multitude of fundraising events benefitting the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  Both Woodforest National Bank and Woodforest Charitable Foundation are committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which Woodforest serves. This partnership benefits the community and organizations such as Food Bank of Northern Indiana which recently received a $3,800 donation, from the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.


Food Bank of Northern Indiana was founded in 1993, since then, they have been feeding the hungry in the six counties that they serve. The Food Bank of Northern Indiana serves 185 agencies in the northern Indiana counties of St. Joseph, Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall, Starke and LaPorte. The Food Bank distributes 20,000 pounds of food each business day.


Their mission is, “The Food Bank of Northern Indiana works in partnership with the community to feed the hungry, increase awareness of the effects of hunger and lead programs designed to alleviate hunger.”
 

The Food 4 Kids Program is just one of the programs that the Food Bank of Northern Indiana supports. This program is an emergency food assistance program designed to serve school-aged children, to improve the physical health, mental health and overall school performance of chronically hungry children through immediate, confidential, and direct assistance. Food is distributed to the children every Friday throughout the duration of the school year. Children receive kid-friendly food each week and are responsible for their food items once they have been distributed.  Fun Packs are delivered every Thursday to the schools that have been sponsored and adopted to implement the Food 4 Kids Program.
