LAFAYETTE, IN – Food Finder’s Food Bank receives an $835 donation from Woodforest Charitable Foundation in support of their Back Pack Program. The BackPack Program ensures that area children have something to eat between Friday afternoon and Monday morning.   Each Friday, students enrolled in the program receive a backpack filled with nutritious, non-perishable, kid-friendly food. Packing partners fill the packs each week.

Since 1981, Food Finders Food Bank has been a critical component of the welfare of Tippecanoe and 15 surrounding counties in Indiana, providing food to member agencies, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger related issues. Funded by United Way, foundations, grants, USDA, corporations, sponsors, and donors, Food Finders Food Bank distributes more than six million pounds of food annually.

Food Finders Food Bank offers four ongoing programs within its service area dedicated to ending hunger. The BackPack Program ensures that area children have something to eat on weekends and school vacations. Each Friday, students enrolled in the program receive a backpack filled with nutritious, child-friendly food. The Summer Food Service Program provides healthy meals for children and parents all summer long.  Mobile Pantry Outreach takes a truckload of fresh produce, meat and baked goods to underserved areas to efficiently reach people that need food while supplementing the work of other hunger relief agencies.  Food Finders Food Bank began offering Mobile Food Boxes to clients in 2011. These boxes are filled with a variety of shelf-stable items and average about .28 cents per meal.

“With your help, more seniors will have enough to eat this week, fewer children will go to bed hungry, and many struggling parents can worry less,” said Katy O’Malley Bunder, Executive Director of Food Finders Food Bank, “Please know that your gift will change the lives of many.”
