Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula recently received a $3,910.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1986, the Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula has grown to become the primary hunger-relief organization across the greater Peninsula region, including Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, and surrounding counties, serving as a vital safety net for food-insecure residents. Its mission is to distribute food effectively through collaborative efforts that minimize hunger, promote nutrition, and encourage self-reliance through education, with a vision of fostering a hunger-free and properly nourished community. The Foodbank partners with over 140 agencies, such as pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and community centers, to deliver nutritious meals via programs including the Food for Kids Backpack, Kids Café, Summer Food Service, culinary training for adults, mobile pantries, and emergency response distributions. To date, they’ve distributed more than 216 million meals, reaching an average of 158,000 households annually through both direct service and partner networks.
