Freestore Foodbank
Cincinnati, OH – On a continual basis Woodforest National Bank employees perform a multitude of fundraising events benefitting the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  Both Woodforest National Bank and Woodforest Charitable Foundation are committed to making a positive impact in the communities in which Woodforest serves. This partnership benefits the community and organizations such as Freestore Foodbank, which recently received a $3,455 donation, from the Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Freestore Foodbank was founded in 1973 from one man’s passion for helping his neighbors and now has transformed into one of the region’s largest food banks. For over 40 years the food bank has been serving multiple counties, distributing approximately 19 million pounds of food annually.

Their mission is, “We provide food and services, create stability, and further self-reliance for people in crisis.” Their vision is, “To be the leader of a community mobilized to end hunger and address its causes.”
Freestore Foodbank supports numerous feeding programs including KIND Program, Mobile pantry, Partnering Agencies, Summer Food Service, Kids Café, and Power Pack Program. As you know, many children in the community live in poverty and are at risk for hunger especially during weekends and holidays when school lunches are not available. The Power Pack program allows these children to have nutritious, kid-friendly food they can take home to prepare for themselves.

“We had two very hungry brothers come in the other day from a 2 hour delay. Thankfully, with the Power Pack program, we know they’re going home with food for the weekend. I glad to have this program in my school.” – Principle Sprouse from Green Elementary School
