House of Amos recently received a $2,000.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in July 1996 by Alief-area businessman Mike Kutka, House of Amos began as a small, volunteer-driven initiative offering basic necessities such as food, clothing, and education to neighbors in need. The name honors the Old Testament prophet Amos, who championed the poor and called for social justice. As a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit, this community-supported organization provides a wide range of services, including an emergency food pantry, financial assistance for rent and utilities, ESL and citizenship classes, computer literacy, translation services, and even childhood immunizations, all delivered free of charge with compassion and dignity. In 2024 alone, House of Amos distributed over 25,000 pounds of food and hygiene items to more than 1,070 families (over 3,600 individuals), offered ESL instruction to 30 adults, and provided rent or utility assistance to help 39 families maintain stable homes.
