Houston Food Bank recently received a $100,000.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded on March 8, 1982, the Houston Food Bank began in a modest storefront in North Houston, donated by Joan and Stanford Alexander, in partnership with Houston Metropolitan Ministries. Today, it is recognized as the largest food bank in the United States by distribution volume, serving 18 counties across Southeast Texas through partnerships with over 1,600 community organizations. Its mission, Food for Better Lives, is guided by a visionary goal of a world that doesn’t need food banks. Beyond emergency food distribution, the Houston Food Bank delivers transformative programs aimed at long-term stability: nutrition education, health management, job training, SNAP and other benefits assistance, and community health programming. Since its founding, the Food Bank has grown exponentially, from distributing 1 million pounds of food in its first year, to providing access to hundreds of millions of nutritious meals annually today.
