The Greater Houston YMCA, part of the nationwide YMCA movement, was founded in 1878 to promote youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in the Houston area. The organization provides a wide range of programs, including youth sports, swimming lessons, fitness classes, childcare, summer camps, and community outreach initiatives, all aimed at strengthening individuals and families. Its mission is “o put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, fostering a sense of community, inclusivity, and support for people of all ages and backgrounds.
