Conroe, TX - Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently donated $6,500 to Montgomery County Youth Services in support of programs that provide shelter and social services to at-risk youth in the community.

Montgomery County Youth Services was established in 1979 by a group of community leaders who developed juvenile justice prevention services for at-risk youth in the community. MCYS is committed to working with youth and their families through several human services and mental health programs. Over the years MCYS has expanded its services to include programs and activities that benefit your who struggle with the challenges and complexities of life.

MCYS offers numerous core services available to youth and their families. Services include: peep pressure, self-esteem issues, school issues, behavior problems, homelessness, abuse, neglect, violence, emergency intervention, conflict resolution, and runaways. The agency's eight locations provide direct and indirect services to thousands of youth and families annually. MCYS has strong collaborative relationships with community agencies, businesses, churches and school districts.

MCYS is organized into two primary entities to facilitate the effective delivery of needed services. Youth and Family Services provide short-term crisis intervention and mental health counseling for youth up to age 21. Individual, group and family counseling targeted at resolving your and family issues are included at no charge. Shelter Services provide youth in crisis with a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment while working toward achieving identified objectives.

MCYS is fully supported by the generous donations of individuals, organizations, churches, corporations and foundations in the local community and the greater Houston area.  They are a Montgomery County United Way partner and receive funding through the Montgomery County Community Development grant and also in part through Federal, State, and County level grants.

“Thank you for your continued support of the agency’s mission and for making a difference in the life of a child,” said John Bracken, Executive Director of Montgomery County Youth Services.
