The Second Harvest Food Bank of Southeast North Carolina, founded in 1982 as a program of Action Pathways, Inc., is a leading hunger-relief organization serving seven counties: Bladen, Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, Robeson, and Sampson. Its mission is to feed, advocate, educate, and develop partnerships to meet the nutritional needs of the community by soliciting and distributing healthy foods. The Food Bank partners with over 200 nonprofit organizations to distribute food daily to those in need. Currently, it secures, stores, and distributes more than 16 million pounds of food annually, sourced from major retailers, local wholesalers, other food banks, and food drives held by individuals, businesses, schools, and civic organizations.
