Interfaith of The Woodlands is a nonprofit social service agency established in 1973 by George P. Mitchell, the founder and original developer of The Woodlands, Texas. Initially conceived as a means to cultivate religious organizations and serve residents' needs across denominations, it has since evolved into a comprehensive community resource. The organization's mission is Building a more loving and caring community through service, reflecting its commitment to fostering compassion and support within the community. Interfaith offers a wide array of programs and services designed to assist individuals and families in crisis. These include financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, gasoline, and prescription drugs; emergency shelter; food and clothing support; senior services; and childcare. Additionally, Interfaith provides counseling, job training, and operates a community clinic to address healthcare needs. By collaborating with member congregations, corporations, local businesses, individuals, nonprofits, and other organizations, Interfaith continues to serve as a vital resource, embodying its founder's vision of a united and compassionate community.
