Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $9,780 to Tarrant Area Food Bank

Tarrant Area Food Bank Receives $9,780 Donation

FORT WORTH, TX – Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $9,780 to Tarrant Area Food Bank.  This gift will be used to support the Food Bank’s Backpacks for Kids Program.

Tarrant Area Food Bank collaborates with elementary and middle schools to offer its BackPacks for Kids program.  This program is placed at schools where 80% or more of the students are eligible for free and reduced-cost meals.  The program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.  In addition to providing nutritious food to school children in need, the Program provides extra food for school-aged siblings at home. 

“Thank you for your gift to the Tarrant Area Food Bank’s BackPacks for Kids program,” said Bo Soderbergh, Executive Director of Tarrant Area Food Bank.  “Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s gift will ensure that children at risk of hunger have nutritious, child-friendly food each weekend during the school year.”

Tarrant Area Food Bank is the distribution hub of a 13-county networkof hunger-relief charities and social services centers.   The Food Bank distributes product to 300 partner agencies that serve abuse victims, children, the elderly, the chronically ill, the unemployed, the working poor, the homeless and other Texans in need.
