Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $4,150 to Central Virginia Food Bank

Central Virginia Food Bank Receives $4,150 Donation

RICHMOND, VA - Woodforest Charitable Foundation donates $4,150 to Central Virginia Food Bank’s Kids Café and BackPack Programs.

The Central Virginia Food Bank brings hunger relief to 31 counties and five cities through a comprehensive approach that includes acquiring food and distributing these items to communities, families, and individuals in need.  Through targeted programs designed to address specific hunger challenges, the Food Bank works to ensure that children, families, and seniors have access to a reliable source of healthy nutrition.

The Central Virginia Food Bank’s feeding programs for children include the Kid’s Cafe Program, which provides a hot, healthy evening meal or nutritious snack to school children who attend participating afterschool activities.  The Food Bank’s BackPack Program supplies children at risk of hunger a back pack filled with six nutritious, child-friendly, nonperishable meals to fill the gap they face on weekends and over school breaks.

“Thank you for recognizing that thousands of hungry school aged children who receive their breakfasts and lunches at school, may not have meals when school is not in session,” expressed Fay Lohr, President/CEO of Central Virginia Food Bank.  “Thanks to the generosity of Woodforest Charitable Foundation, the same children whose school performance and social behavior improved due to the nutritious meals and snacks they received through Kids Café Programs, can also have nutritious meals for the weekend through our BackPack Program.”
