Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded and first opened its doors on August 31, 1998, Children’s Safe Harbor was established as Montgomery County’s dedicated center for abused and traumatized children ages 2 to 17. Its mission is to achieve justice and healing for every abused child, with the tagline Justice. Healing. Hope is guiding its trauma-informed efforts. As a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC), it streamlines care by bringing together forensic interviews, medical evaluations, counseling, and family advocacy services, all in one child-friendly facility, reducing the trauma children endure through repeated questioning by multiple agencies. Since its inception, Children’s Safe Harbor has conducted over 26,500 forensic interviews, and in 2023, served 2,302 children and reviewed 8,928 reports of child abuse across Montgomery, Walker, and San Jacinto counties. Most recently, the organization has broken ground on a new 45,000-square-foot $10 million facility in Conroe, designed to include a healing garden, medical clinic, forensic suites, and counseling spaces, set to open in fall 2025, further expanding its capacity to bring trauma-informed justice and support to even more children in need.
