East Texas Food Bank, founded in 1988, serves as the central hub for hunger relief across 26 counties in East Texas, addressing the needs of more than 175,000 households annually. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to fight hunger and feed hope in East Texas. Through a network of over 200 partner agencies, the Food Bank distributes food via programs tailored to children, families, and seniors, such as the BackPack Program, Kids Café, Summer Meals, Senior Box, Mobile Pantry, Fresh Produce, Nutrition Education, and Benefits Assistance. In fiscal year 2025, the organization provided approximately 34 million meals, reaching nearly 208,000 households across nearly 20,000 square miles. East Texas Food Bank also operates Resource Centers in Tyler, Longview, Lufkin, and Texarkana, which offer wraparound services including food pantries, benefits and housing assistance, and community referrals.
