Family Promise of Greater Lafayette recently received a $500.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1994 as Family Promise of Greater Lafayette, the organization initially ran on a rotating host congregation model. In 2018, it moved into a permanent facility near Northend Community Center and, in late 2024, formally transitioned to the independent name Greater Lafayette Family Shelter to better reflect its local mission. Their mission is β€œto provide emergency shelter and services to families with children experiencing homelessness in Greater Lafayette,” guided by a vision of a safe and equitable community where no family experiences homelessness and every child has a stable home. Greater Lafayette Family Shelter offers families stays typically lasting 60–90 days, providing intensive case management, employment support, budgeting guidance, childcare help, and housing navigation. Children remain enrolled in their schools with transportation arrangements provided. The program also offers prevention services, such as rental or transportation assistance for formerly sheltered families at risk of losing housing.
