Families Moving Forward recently received a $500.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Families Moving Forward, located in Durham, North Carolina, was founded in 2016 through the merger of two longstanding local nonprofits, Genesis Home (est. 1989) and Durham Interfaith Hospitality Network. Its mission is to help families in crisis of homelessness find their way home by providing temporary housing, individualized case management, life skills education, and connections to community resources, supporting both parents and children toward stable, permanent housing and long-term self-sufficiency. FMF’s core program, The NEST (Neighbors Experiencing Success Together), shelters 20 families at a time in a safe and supportive environment, connecting them with community partners. In contrast, its Rapid Rehousing and Branching Out aftercare programs extend support to help families secure and maintain housing beyond the shelter phase.
