Family Promise of Chicago recently received a $500.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 2010 as an affiliate of the national Family Promise network, this organization serves families experiencing homelessness in Chicago and the North Shore region. Its mission is to help families with children in homeless situations return quickly to permanent housing by providing emergency shelter, meals, job search assistance, and supportive services while addressing root causes like financial instability and housing insecurity. Unique among local shelters, the program ensures families stay together, keeping fathers and sons over age 12 in the same unit. Through its network of about 28 interfaith congregations and more than 200 volunteers, the program supports families on average for around 90 days, helping 85% or more transition into sustainable, independent housing.
