Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1982, the Food Bank began distributing food to 23 faith-based and nonprofit agencies by July 1983. It joined the national Feeding America network in 1985, later merging with another local food relief organization in 1989, and formally adopting its current name in 2004. Its mission is to lead the fight against hunger in South Louisiana by providing food access, advocacy, education, and disaster response, serving over 700 community partners across 23 parishes. Each year, through its warehouses in New Orleans and Lafayette, the organization distributes the equivalent of 32–38 million meals, reaching more than 210,000 individuals, including children, seniors, and vulnerable populations.
