Family Promise of Gwinnett recently received a $500.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 2005, this affiliate began when the first family was served in April at a Day Center donated by St. Edward’s Episcopal Church in Lawrenceville. The initiative grew from earlier exploratory meetings of faith leaders in 2003–2004 and became a formal affiliate in April 2005. Its mission is to mobilize communities of congregations in partnership with social service agencies to help end homelessness one family at a time. Family Promise of Gwinnett provides a structured Promise Haven program, offering 30‑ to 90‑day emergency shelter for families with children. While families stay in shelter, they receive intensive case management, budgeting support, and workforce mentoring aimed at helping them make money, save money, and secure permanent housing. During the day, the Day Center offers resources such as mail access, laundry, financial counseling, and more. Volunteers from over 40 local congregations supply meals, lodging, and fellowship, offering dignity and hope throughout the process.
