Woodforest Charitable Foundation

The Westmoreland County Food Bank was founded in March 1982, distributing just 2,000 pounds of food in its first year. Today, it serves as the primary hunger-relief organization across Westmoreland County, PA—serving nearly 18,000 individuals and families annually through a network of approximately 44 food pantries and 66 agency sites. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to enable all Westmoreland County residents who are hungry or at risk of hunger to have ready access to food. The Food Bank’s wide-reaching services include its core Food Pantry Distribution Program, Military Share, Backpack Program for children, Summer Meals, Senior Food Box (CSFP) program, and Fresh Express mobile distributions to deliver fresh and perishable food across the county. Accredited by Feeding America, the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO), and the Standards for Excellence, the organization is also recognized for its transparency and ethical operations, including a coveted four‑star Charity Navigator rating.
