Family Promise of Lima-Allen County, an affiliate of the national Family Promise network founded in 1988, began its local work in 2008 when Trinity United Methodist Church in Lima partnered with Family Promise National to launch the program locally. The organization's mission is to help homeless families achieve and sustain independence by offering emergency shelter, meals, case management, and support services, while serving as a compassionate, stable presence during crises. Its programs include emergency shelter, prevention efforts, graduate support services, and community initiatives that are designed to keep families together, reduce stress on children, and connect families with mentors.
