Huntsville, AL - Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently donated $650 to the Food Bank of North Alabama.

One in four people in a soup kitchen line is a child. Woodforest Charitable Foundation’s generous donation to the Food Bank of North Alabama will support their program that solicits, warehouses, and distributes food product to North Alabama's needy, ill and children.

The growth of the Alabama Food Bank network is directly related to the growing number of hungry people in Alabama.  More than 720,000 Alabama residents live below the federal poverty level.  The numbers are staggering, but the Food Bank is committed to the fight against hunger.   The Food Bank of North Alabama solicits, warehouses, and distributes food product in support of North Alabama's needy, ill and children.  “We want to thank everyone at Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank for supporting our efforts to find proactive solutions to end hunger and poverty. Your generous contribution will assist our efforts to incubate locally owned businesses that create “green” jobs for workers with entrepreneurial aspirations, provide access to healthy food choices and support local family farmers,” said Kathryn Strickland, Community Food Security Director, Food Bank of North Alabama.  “Thank you again for contributing to this important work and supporting a more food secure North Alabama.”

“On behalf of the Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank, we are grateful to have the opportunity to provide funding to the Food Bank of North Alabama in support of its Community Food Security Program,” stated Kim Marling, Executive Director of Woodforest Charitable Foundation.  “This funding provides support to innovative models of green job creation within the food system like the Pulaski Pike Market.”
