Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana recently received a $215.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1997, the Food Bank began when a group of individuals from local churches and benevolent organizations formed a steering committee in 1996, received a facility donation in early 1997, and formally opened its doors on April 17, 1997. By 2003, it became an official affiliate of Feeding America. Its mission is “to serve as the primary resource for fighting hunger in Northwest Louisiana,” with a vision to ultimately end hunger in Northwest Louisiana by ensuring a consolidated network of effective food collection and distribution, providing universal access to food for neighbors in need. Serving seven parishes, the Food Bank partners with over 150 churches and organizations to deliver food via more than 150 partner agencies, including pantries, shelters, kitchens, and senior programs. Annually, it distributes over 15 million pounds of food, reaching more than 75,000 individuals through programs like Senior Boxes, Mobile Pantries, BackPack for Kids, Kids Café, and summer feeding initiatives. Additional features, such as Martha’s Market Food Pantry & Learning Center, offer client-choice services and nutrition education to further support community health and dignity.
