Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1978 when Tom Ferraro rescued a school bus full of Thomas’s English muffins to supply local pantries, this act launched the Genesee Valley Regional Food Clearinghouse, later renamed Foodlink in 1991, Its mission is to leverage the power of food to end hunger and build healthier communities, while embracing a vision that food is a human right and that the fight against hunger and poverty are inseparable. Serving a 10‑county region in the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes area, Foodlink partners with more than 300 agencies to distribute over 18 million pounds of food annually, provides 2 million healthy meals through its Community Kitchen, and offers programs like Curbside Markets, Nutrition Education, the Career Fellowship, and its Community Farm to address both immediate needs and systemic inequities in food access.
