Established on February 14, 1990, HAAM (aka HAAM Social Services) was founded in northeast Harris and east Montgomery counties by local clergy representing 16 congregations. Their vision was to centralize community outreach and eliminate the duplication of social services by creating a collaborative support framework. Today, HAAM remains guided by its mission to “connect individuals and families to community resources and to build stronger futures by inspiring hope, with a vision of a community where individuals and families have opportunities to thrive. Delivering on that promise, HAAM responds to over 70,000 assistance requests annually, providing close to 500,000 units of service to more than 14,000 individuals. Its comprehensive services span Basic Needs, Education, Employment, Family Support, Senior Services, Community Outreach, and more, including benefit application help and supportive programs.
