Just Neighbors IHN recently received a $1,000.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1999 and beginning operations in November 2000, Just Neighbors was created as a grassroots response to the need for emergency shelter for families, never separating mothers and children in its care, a model missing from other local shelters at that time. Guided by its mission “to serve homeless families by uniting religious congregations, community volunteers, and local agencies in a cooperative effort to provide shelter, meals, and compassionate, comprehensive professional support,” the organization serves as Fort Wayne’s only emergency shelter dedicated exclusively to homeless families. Operating from a centralized family center since 2009, Just Neighbors provides private rooms and common living space, along with meals, case management, job and household skills training, outreach at the eviction court, and volunteer mentoring. Supported by over 800 volunteers from more than 30 congregations, the shelter helps guests maintain family unity, attend school, secure housing, and progress toward self‑sufficiency, all while clients typically stay just 30–37 days before transitioning into stable housing.
