MANNA Foodbank recently received a $1,215.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Woodforest Charitable Foundation

Founded in 1982 by the local Hunger Awareness Group, MANNA began distributing food in 1983 from a donated space in the basement of Eliada Home with just 42,000 pounds of food delivered to 16 partner agencies in its first year. Since then, it has grown into the primary hunger‑relief organization across 16 counties. Moving an average of over 50,000–70,000 pounds of food every single day through a network of more than 200–300 partner agencies. MANNA’s mission is to involve, educate, and unite people in the work of ending hunger in Western North Carolina, grounded in the vision of a hunger‑free WNC. Its programs extend beyond distribution, operating mobile markets; providing emergency weekend food for children; running a Helpline to assist with SNAP/Z‑trial benefit enrollment; and launching nutrition-education and food‑rescue initiatives that redirect fresh produce to plates, not landfills.
