Maryland Food Bank recently received a $5,220.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1979 by Ann Miller, the Maryland Food Bank began by distributing about 400,000 pounds of food to 38 assistance sites in Baltimore City during its first year Maryland Food Bank. Since then, it has expanded to operate three major distribution branches in Baltimore, Salisbury, and Hagerstown, evolving into the central hub for food assistance across 21 counties and Baltimore City. Guided by the mission of Feeding People, strengthening communities, and ending hunger for more Marylanders, the organization advances hunger relief through large-scale food collection and distribution, nutrition education, culinary job training, SNAP outreach, and food equity advocacy. In fiscal year 2024, the Food Bank distributed more than 43 million meals across Maryland, mobilizing nearly 38,000 volunteer hours and partnering with roughly 360 community agencies, including pantries, shelters, meal programs, and mobile services to ensure access to nutritious food for individuals and families in need.
