Newport News, Virginia - Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently donated $10,450 to  Menchville House, located in Newport News, Virginia.

Menchville House started in April, 1998 as the vision of three women to establish a shelter for homeless women and their children. The concept of healing hurting women and their children was brought to reality in an 18 apartment building that the community pitched in to remodel into a lovely group home. Since then, numerous women and their children have moved from hurt to hope to become healthy, independent and contributing members of their communities. The Menchville House accepts homeless women and their children as residents for up to 24 months. “Thank you so much,” said Sylvia Jones, Executive Director of Menchville House. “This donation will keep the lights on for the next few months; it will definitely help pay the bills.”

“The Woodforest Charitable Foundation assists our teams with making a difference in our communities. Through the efforts of our hard working employees, we have created relationships with organizations that are extremely impactful to our neighborhoods,” said Ross Folkenroth, Vice President of Woodforest National Bank. “The Woodforest Charitable Foundation and Woodforest National Bank are pleased to partner with Menchville House Ministries.”
