Montgomery County Women's Center recently received a $50,000.00 donation from The Woodforest Charitable Foundation.

Founded in 1980 as the Montgomery County Rape Crisis Coalition, the organization evolved significantly over the years, merging with Family Violence Outreach in 1986 and incorporating as an independent nonprofit by 1987. Today, its mission is clear and resolute: to lead the effort in preventing domestic violence and sexual assault through crisis intervention, assistance, advocacy, empowerment, and social change. MCWC offers a comprehensive, trauma-informed continuum of care, providing a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, transitional housing, counseling, support groups, legal assistance, advocacy, and community education Its Sheltering Oaks emergency shelter, for instance, houses survivors and their children while offering services like counseling, medical care, and enrichment programs, supporting them as they embark on healing journeys toward stability and independence.
