Geneva, IL - Woodforest Charitable Foundation recently donated $9,330 to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

Northern Illinois Food Bank was formed in 1983 by Sister Rosemarie Buriam who awoke one morning with a dream of opening a center for the poor. In May, 1983 64k pounds of food was distributed. Today, the Northern Illinois Food Bank distributes over 35 million pounds of food to 600 participating agencies scattered throughout the 13 counties in which they serve.

Their vision is for no one to be hungry in northern Illinois. Their mission is to lead the northern Illinois community in solving hunger by providing nutritious meals to those in need through innovative programs and partnerships.

For some, Federal assistance is not an option; the Northern Illinois Food Bank is here to assist in times of need regardless of the circumstances. BackPack Programs have been set up to serve the children that are struggling with hunger in the area, supplying families with nutritional meals that are vital in the growth and development of children.
